The self-help genre is the second most addicting substance that is fully legal in the world.
In case you’re wondering, coffee is first by a long mile.
The self-help industry is worth over 10 billion dollars, and I imagine will continue to grow as we search for more answers on how to improve.
We read books and listen to podcasts in hopes of time hacking, being more efficient, and even making more money.
Nothing wrong with this approach, it just leaves more opportunity for disappointment.
We've all tried to improve by using a popular self-help method.
How quickly are we frustrated with ourselves for not sticking to the plan so clearly laid out in the 3 step guide we received?
I too have been on that journey.
My favorite one is the optimized schedule that tries to make us fully productive for every minute of the day.
We search everywhere for answers on how to live and be successful.
Courses. Books. YouTube Videos. Podcasts.
But we don't search in the place that has all the answers.
The Bible.
II Timothy 3:16-17 teaches us that:
"16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching how to live right. 17 Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be ready and will have everything he needs to do every good work." (ICB)
If you're on the self-help hamster wheel I'd like to challenge you to try something different with me for once.
Try the Bible as your guide to a better life.
It won't let you down.
